FaithFest 250: Chandler Smith dominates the final stage in Wilkes County

Front Row Motorsports’ Chandler smith dominated the final stage at North Wilkesboro for the largest short track margin of victory in truck series history.

Chandler Smith led a race-high 105 laps en-route to a margin of victory of 8.48 seconds, the largest at a short track in the truck series.

Smith’s teammate Layne Riggs started on pole and led 25 laps in the race’s early running, losing the lead to Carson Hocevar at the drop of the green.

Hocevar led the second-most laps of the day with 74, but the Spire driver got a flat left front on lap 138 while running 12th. Hocevar finished the race in 27th after starting in second.

Shane Van Gisbergen finished third, for the highest oval track finish for the former Supercars star.

Rounding out the top 5 was Christian Eckes and Landen Lewis.

There were only two cautions for incident on the day. Donovan Strauss spun his No. 4 off of turn 2 from 29th place on lap 13 and Luke Baldwin spun off of turn 4 on lap 119 after contact with SVG.

The truck series rolls into Indianapolis Raceway Park next weekend.
