Black’s Tire 250 presented by BTS Rewards at Richmond Raceway Race Recap

This weekend the truck series went short track racing again as they made their way to Richmond Raceway. After numerous delays and a postponement Friday night Shane Van Gisbergen led the field to the green after winning the first oval pole of his stock car career.

Kaden Honeycutt made quick work of Van Gisbergen and was able to lead the rest of the first stage and capture the stage victory in a stage that went completely green and served as a feeling out process as the drivers adjusted to a green race track.

Stage One Results:

  1. Kaden Honeycutt

Tyler Ankrum and Mason Massey received penalties during the stage break pit stop relegating them to the rear of the field. Honeycutt maintained control on the start of stage two and the second stage also ran caution free. Ty Majeski did have a tire go down after contact with Corey Heim and was forced to pit losing two laps under green, he was able to get one back but he was not able to get back to the free pass position which went to Leland Honeyman at the end of stage two.

Stage Two Results:

During stage break pit stops, Layne Riggs lost four spots due to a slow exchange on his left front and Van Gisbergen received an uncontrolled tire penalty that mired him deep after a great first two stages. Honeycutt continued to dominate as the final stage started, this time with Grant Enfinger in tow. He held this lead until he pitted with 52 laps to go, Riggs had more issues as he would be forced to pit a second time for a vibration. Grant Enfinger and Van Gisbergen stayed out trying to make it to the end of the race on fuel alone. This effort was aided by our last caution of the day with 34 laps to go as Stewart Friesen cut a tire and got into the wall. Honeycutt was not to be denied tho as he took back the lead and held it all the way to the checkered flag. Leading 225/250 laps in a show of absolute dominance for the young driver.
