On July 14th, 2021, silly season became even sillier with the announcement that Austin Cindric, the 2021 Xfinity Champion, would be taking over the 2 car in the cup series for the 2022 season. It was also announced that Harrison Burton, the driver of the 20 car in the Xfinity series, would be switching to Ford from Toyota to drive the 21 car for Wood Brothers Racing.
Austin Cindric currently has one Xfinity Series championship and he has 12 wins currently in the Xfinity Series and 4 wins currently this season. He is also the points leader, with the most wins, for the Xfinity Series. His average finish for this season so far has been seventh.
Harrison Burton currently has four wins total in the Xfinity series, none this season, but he is currently fifth in points. His average finish for this season so far has been fourteenth.
When new people come in someone has to leave. Brad Keselowski and Matt DiBenedetto will be moving on from Team Penske/Wood Brothers and going to other teams. Brad Keselowski was offered an ownership role with Roush Fenway Racing, which is not something he could’ve been offered with Team Penske, Brad currently has one Cup championship with Team Penske and will be looking to leave his final season with another cup championship.
Silly Season has just begun and it is only going to get more interesting especially seeing what car Keselowski will drive for RFR and seeing where DiBenedetto will end up for the 2022 season. Stay with Pit Box Press and we will update if anything happens or changes.
