Legacy Motor Club announced on Thursday that cup series driver Noah Gragson would be sitting out the cup series race at Sonoma Raceway due to concussion-like symptoms. GMS Truck series driver Grant Enfinger will substitute for Gragson for the event scheduled to take place on June 11th.
Gragson suffered a vicious accident on lap 197 at last week’s race at Gateway, where he suffered a brake rotor failure and was sent into the turn 1 wall, crushing the rear end of his car. Legacy stated that Gragson began to exhibit concussion symptoms at the midpoint of the week following the accident, the team also stated that Gragson is currently seeking treatment. With an off-week coming up after the Sonoma race, Gragson has 2 weeks to recover before the next race at Nashville.
Truck series veteran Grant Enfinger will drive the #42 in place of Gragson. The Alabama driver will make his first career cup series start next weekend, after a DNQ for a 2011 race at Homestead-Miami. In a statement by the team, Enfinger would have this to say: ““My thoughts are with Noah, I know how much he loves this team and the guys on it. I’m happy to help out Legacy Motor Club and the No. 42 team.”
Gragson’s incident again adds to an undeniably disappointing season for Legacy Motor Club, less than 24 hours after his teammate Erik Jones was assessed a points penalty.
