#POA147 Recap: Cole Custer holds off Allgaier in late stages for first win of the season

Cole Custer held off last week’s winner Justin Allgaier to win the Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway.

It’s Custer’s first win of the season, and the 10th of his career. Custer took the lead after restarting 4th on the overtime restart. He was able to get the lead after then-3rd place driver Parker Kilgerman tried to make a pass on race leader Allgaier. As they entered turn one Kligerman, Allgaier and Sheldon Creed made contact. Creed finished 7th, Kligerman 14th.

Allgaier would charge to finish second with his JR Motorsports teammates Sam Mayer and Josh Berry in 3rd and 4th. Austin Hill finished in fifth.

There were several drivers upset drivers in the post race. John Hunter Nemechek had his share of run ins throughout the day, including with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Sammy Smith. Jeb Burton was seen going after Chandler Smith but was quickly subdued by the pit crew and Chris Rice.

Any leftover drama won’t have to wait long to play out, as the Xfinity series makes their maiden voyage to Sonoma Raceway for next Saturday night’s DoorDash 250.
